Elvina Beck was born in the former Soviet Union and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Los Angeles to attend Pepperdine University.
In 2012, she founded PodShare based on three trends: rise of the freelance economy, loneliness solo travelers experience when overspending on solitary hotel rooms, and the difficulty transplants undergo when apartment hunting in a new city.
A “pod” is a redesigned bunk bed that’s “shared” in a wide open room and across multiple addresses. This concept of co-living or sharing open spaces, brings people together while breaking down costs and barriers.
PodShare has housed over 50,000 people across 5 locations in 200 pods, including 18 tattoos of our “shared home” logo.
